Magnets
keep love with riffles
oceans flowing
and you driftwood invertebrates
fishing debris
conserve responsibility
running sensitive

A Bad Beginning
If you have a basic understanding of French, you may understand the name of this blog. If not (if you don't understand that is) I will attempt to enlighten you. It is primarily a French pun. The pun is on the common word pommes de terre, which means "apples of the earth" or more commonly, potatoes. The pun arises from the similarity of guerre and terre. If your French is not sufficiently advanced, more than likely you have been waiting eagerly in baited anticipation for this moment of revelation. Well, guerre means war. That is right. Apples of War.
Now, what exactly does Apples of War mean? I don't think there is one straightforward answer. Obviously there are plenty of conotations associated with both apples and war. With all of those in mind I'd like to say that it was careful planning that hatched this connectivity between the two. However, it really just came from the sound. To quote myself at the time of the creation of the phrase, "Pommes de terre? Pommes de guerre!" I don't really know why I was saying anything in French. Right after realizing what I had just said I added the additional comment of "That's awesome."
How I have sort of envisioned the meaning since then though is through a different take on the phrase "seeds of war." Namely, what happens when the seeds grow up. So, what are the effects of war. I then began to think that people, are the apples of war. Throughout all of our history there seem to be few constants. One of them is war. And it very much characterizes how we live. War and war metaphors are rampant in our speech, clothing syles have changed because of it (or new styles created-for instance, trench coats), and of course there are plenty more examples. No matter what your view of war, whether you live for it or live against it, it always plays a role in your thinking.
I also had a picture in my head of a bullet, that, after being shot by a soldier, grows into an apple midflight, before transforming (like on the Animorphs covers) into a person, who then does the same thing. There is also a slight variation where the bullet hits the ground and sprouts an apple tree which grows people fruit. As in fruit that ends up being people. Not fruit for people to eat. I'd love to see that animated.
Having said all that, I'm pretty much not going to say anything about this again. That's the plan anyways. So forgive me for not writing much more, but I needed something better than "Jordan's Blog". And since I've already titled this "A Bad Beginning" I'm not going to bother proofreading this, and thus, I have a somewhat passable excuse for sucking the proverbial bag on this one. The future may hold wonderful things in store.
